Steamed Monkfish 아귀찜

Korea is a peninsula made up of three sides of the sea.

In the old days, a fish called Agwi(Monkfish) was not very popular.

It was easy to throw it back into the sea because it was ugly among fish and it didn't taste good when it was baked.

So they solved the problem by developing a menu called agwi-jjim.

 

 

It was developed as a dish made of red pepper paste with several pieces of monkfish.

My favorite food these days is also steamed monkfish.

This is because it is spicy and chewy and full of good feeling when eaten.

Nowadays, various seafoods are mixed and sold as steamed seafood.

 

 

Steamed monkfish is most famous in Masan.

 

 

 

It is even said that if you go to Masan, you should eat steamed monkfish.
